MotorCycle Direct team up with Sorn Insurance

Breaking Press Release provided by MotorCycle Direct - specialists in bike insurance.

Written by Josh Evans, 06/12/2011

New legislation that came into effect in April 2011, means bikers can no longer let bike insurance lapse just because they not using their vehicle.

Continuous Insurance Enforcement (CIE) requires bikers to keep insurance running, even when your bike engine isn't! Alternatively, you can return your tax disc to the DVLA, having completed a V14, and declare SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification). Failure to insure your bike without declaring SORN means you could face a court prosecution and up to £1,000 fine.

To insure or not to insure? That will be the question on the minds of motorcyclists this winter and the answer will depend on whether bike owners can find an affordable solution.

MotorCycle Direct has teamed up with Sorn Insurance to provide specialist cover that helps solve the CIE dilemma and avoid the need to declare SORN while your bike is off the road by taking out a special Laid Up Fire & Theft policy.

This allows bikers to save money, compared with your Comprehensive or Third Party, Fire and Theft premiums - meeting the requirements of CIE.

Then, when you're ready to take your bike back on the road, you can take out full insurance cover once more.

Continuous Insurance Enforcement applies to all motorists - so the same rules apply for cars and motorbikes. Fortunately, the policy offered by MotorCycle Direct in partnership with Sorn Insurance covers car drivers too. Better still, you can get a Sorn bike insurance quote online now.
