Yamaha celebrates 50 years
The Yamaha Motor Company celebrated its 50th anniversary in style on Friday, inviting a host of former racing winners to join the company at a special gala event in California.
An array of champions who had ridden to victory on Yamaha motorcycles over the years were represented at the birthday bash at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Legendary racing names attending the event included Kel Carruthers, Steve Baker, Giacomo Agostini, Kenny Roberts, Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey and Valentino Rossi, each of whom have secured the World Championship title for Yamaha over its 50 year history.

"Yamaha Motor Company is honoured to have a proud history, rich with innovation and leadership, based largely on our strong racing heritage," said Yamaha's chairman Toru Hasegawa.
On Sunday Yamaha topped its half-century anniversary with a double podium finish in the US grand prix.
Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi took second and third place respectively in the Laguna Seca race.
