Motorcycle sales rev up
Motorcycle sales in the UK during June were up two per cent on the same month last year, according to new industry figures.
The Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCI) said motorcycle and moped registrations, excluding scooters, stood at 15,525 in June 2005.
The largest growth was in the adventure sport sector, where bike sales increased by 41 per cent last month, compared to June 2004.

The MCI said statistics pointed to a growing diversity in motorcycle sales as riders look for more versatile two-wheelers. The three biggest growth sectors were adventure, which now has a 27 per cent market share, naked (16 per cent) and custom (ten per cent).
MCI Director of Public Affairs, Craig Carey-Clinch said: "The latest figures provide further evidence of market consolidation as riders are diversifying their motorcycle choice.
"The MCI hopes that this signals the start of a positive period for motorcycle sales at a time when government is taking motorcycling more seriously and has launched the National Motorcycle Strategy to help create an environment that enables motorcycling to grow and flourish."
With an increasing range of bikes and scooters on the UK's streets, the need for bike insurance is likely to follow an upward curve.
