Free Scooter Training
MotorCycle Direct are supporting an initiative by South Gloucestershire Council a "Free Training" course aimed at riders who have passed their CBT and are riding up to 125cc, who feel they may benefit from a little extra training. A two day course consisting of group discussion to raise road awareness, on-site riding, and a one to one practical exercise with an experience instructor.
Alan Hale, Senior Road Safety Officer, said: "Motorcycles can be a very cheap and convenient travel option for young people - and we don't want to discourage them from riding; we just want to help them develop skills that will hopefully keep them safer on the roads."
Mr Hale continued: "The training is not a test - just a chance for riders to get some friendly advice. As an added bonus, everyone who does the course will get a £15 Virgin Megastores voucher."
General Info
The first free scooter training weekend will take place at Yate on 22nd and 23rd October.
Saturday's session kicks off at 9am and is a chance to discuss the theory side of motorcycling - a chance to learn some useful tips from the course leaders or from fellow motorcyclists. After lunch, there will be a chance to practice some braking and manoeuvring exercises.

On Sunday, the instructors will follow each rider out on the road for an hour (pre-arranged the day before) and then give positive feedback on how they got on.
There's no pass or fail - just friendly advice!
Applicants need to have passed their Compulsory Basic Training, have a road legal scooter or motorcycle and they must bring along all necessary documentation to be checked before the course begins.
Every rider who can encourage another person to sign up for the training will be given an additional £5 voucher.
