Crockard set to leave Dixon-Yamaha for Honda

Gordon Crockard, the former British Moto Cross champion, is planning to leave the Dixon-Yamaha team for Honda-based engines.

Mr Crockard is hoping that a Honda-equipped motorbike will enable him to return to his winning form after two injury-filled seasons, reports The News Letter.

"I'm due to test Hondas this week in England," said the Northern Irish rider.

"My best world championship results were achieved on Hondas. Fortunately I have a few offers to consider for 2006 but my preference is still a Honda," he added.

The former champion is planning to relocate to Belgium in order to focus completely on next season and improve his current practice regime.

"There are plenty of tracks which I can practice on in order to get back to peak form and if I can keep away from injuries I know that I can be at the front again," said Mr Crockard.
