Yamaha goes with youth

Serco Yamaha has announced that it has signed up teenager Jake Moss for the final round of the Nokia Supercross Masters at Wollongong's WIN Stadium.

The 17-year-old Aussie will also be joined by Mary Perkins, 22, who will represent New Zealand in the women's class at the event.

Moss has become increasingly well-known on the motocross circuit and the race this weekend will be his first with a factory backed team.

He told Full Noise: "It is a real honour to be asked by Serco Yamaha to join the team for the final round of the Supercross Masters and I believe it is an opportunity for me to display my skills on a factory prepared bike.

"I am planning to use the knowledge and resources within the team to my advantage and concentrate on finishing all the races in a strong position as a way to thank everybody for giving me a chance."

Yamaha team boss Gavin Eales commented: "We have been doing quite a bit of work with Jake Moss and keeping an eye on Mary Perkins for quite a while now so it seemed logical to run both riders for this event."

The Yamaha Oceania Motocross Championships will take place on November 12th and 13th and riders will compete in four races culminating in a twenty minute Grand Final.
