Harley design recognised
Designers at Harley-Davidson are to receive an award for creating some of the most unique motorbikes in the world.
The Florence Biennelle, an Italian festival dedicated to contemporary design, culture and art, will make the award for the design and the technical development of the manufacturer's bikes. According to reports Harley is to receive the "Lorenzo il Magnifico," the highest recognition given at the festival.
The award will spotlight the work of William G. Davidson, director of the Harley-Davidson styling department, who has worked on iconic bikes such as Fat Boy, Electra Glide and the V-Rod. He has already been awarded with several design gongs, including the Motorcycle Design Association (MDA) award.

"After their hundred years anniversary in 2003, Harley-Davidson has presented the last model with great success, introducing as always clean aesthetics that have always overcome the previous models," said the Italian organisers.
John Russell, vice president of Harley-Davidson Europe, told Carkeys: "Everyone at Harley-Davidson is delighted and with previous winners of the 'Lorenzo il Magnifico' including legends like Ferrari, we fully respect this award's significance."
The company is about to launch a new range for 2006, including the XL Sportster 1200L model.
