Yamaha says no to Biaggi

Max Biaggi's options for a 2006 MotoGP ride have been shortened further after Yamaha confirmed that they would not be offering the rider a spot for next year.

When asked by Crash.net if there was "any chance" of the Italian being back on a Yamaha next year a spokesperson for the manufacturer said: "Yamaha has no plan or intention to work with Biaggi."

That means that the 34-year-old Italian will not be riding with the Suzuki, Kawasaki, Ducati or Yamaha factory teams for the 2006 title. With no new contract materialising from his current team, Honda, Biaggi is running out of options.

Speculation was, that while Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards were confirmed as the Yamaha works riders for 2006 a spot may be available for Biaggi on a satellite M1.

The Italian came runner-up with Yamaha twice in 2001 and 2002 before criticism of the team's machinery led him to part company with the team before the 2003 season.

According to Crash.net a similar outburst, directed at the Honda team, followed a disappointing 2005 season and has now left him without a bike for 2006.

With his seat on the works Honda now occupied by Dani Pedrosa speculation is that Biaggi's best chance for a competitive 2006 bike lies in reaching a compromise with Honda and its main sponsor, Camel.
