Bike and Moped sales up 5%
New registrations of motorcycles and mopeds rose by five per cent in the year to October 2005, industry figures show.
Data from the Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCI) shows that registrations remained stable so far in 2005.
The total year to date figure for motorcycles and mopeds showed a five per cent increase, but mopeds sales alone slipped back by eight per cent.

The sectors that continued to demonstrate an increase in the number of registrations, compared with 2004, were Adventure (32 per cent), Naked (17 per cent) and Custom (six per cent).
Publishing the October figures at the end of the International Motorcycle and Scooter Show at the NEC in Birmingham, the MCI suggested that they indicated the growing diversity of motorcycling and the varied demands from riders.
The organisation reported that enthusiasm for motorcycles remains high and attendance figures for the annual NEC show were up this year.
Craig Carey-Clinch, MCI director of public affairs, commented: "The year to date figures are reassuring and in this time where house prices are falling and there is a less public confidence in the economy it is heartening to see registrations at the same level as last year.
"The Adventure sector has sustained growth and other sectors are growing. Now is an important time to look to how we can develop other sectors, such as mopeds which are showing a decline."
