Dirt bike show claims success

The organisers of the 2005 Dirt Bike Show have announced that just under 21,000 people attended this year's event.

Thousands of visitors spilled in through the gate over the three days and the show witnessed a host of new launches.

Despite temperatures of minus four degrees Celsius and freezing fog, this year's show has been the most successful to date, with visitor numbers up by 2.5 per cent from a record crowd in 2003, to their highest level in the show's six year history.

Bikes on show for 2005 included the Aprilia V-twin RXV and SXV dirt bikes, Beta's Enduro RR range, CCM's FT-35 flat-tracker, Honda's new CRF250-R/ Huqvarna, the Kawasaki KX250F and 450F, the Suzuki RM-Z450 and Yamaha YZ450F.

Dirt Bike featured a range of kit, clothing and accessories, including the eagerly-awaited Berik Ricky Carmichael MX boot. Trials and motocross bikes of the fifties, sixties and seventies were also on display and a new Virtual Paddock feature proved popular with younger visitors.

Entertainment was provided daily by the Dirt Bike Dancers and Nik Fisk, who interviewed a host of stars, including Maxxis MX2 Champion Carl Nunn and under-21 rising star Tommy Searle, while the Moto-X Live Action Arena witnessed demonstrations from trials, mini bikes and superbikes.

Organisers are already planning next year's show after 84 per cent of visitors polled said they planned to return next year and it will take place at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire between November 16th and 19th 2006.
