Vietnam's motorcyclists granted reprieve
Motorcyclists in Vietnam have been granted a reprieve after restrictions on ownership were lifted.
The public security ministry issued a circular lifting a ban put in place in 2003 that limited motorcycle ownership.

Under the ban Vietnamese citizens were only allowed to own one motorcycle.
The move was intended to reduce congestion in towns and cities where motorcycles are the most popular form of transport.
But after heavy criticism and suggestions that the ban could be unconstitutional, the regulations were rescinded.
According to reports, many citizens were able to get around the rule and still buy new bikes by registering them under different names.
