Police motorcycles return to Essex
Police motorcycles are set to make a return to Essex roads for the first time since they were removed in 1999, according to reports.
It is believed the force will announce the decision to provide six motorcycles for the county, at the Essex police Authority meeting on December 5th.
They will join two other motorcycles currently used for its training and education scheme, Bikesafe.
Former chief constable David Stevens removed police motorcycles from the roads six years ago as part of a £7 million cut back.

It is hoped that the re-introduction of bikes will help to clamp down on the use of the county's roads by criminals, lower the number of motorcycle fatalities and injuries and provide a fast response unit at incidents.
Essex Chief Constable Roger Baker told the East Anglian Daily Times: "Motorcycles can be used for a whole range of policing services.
"They are a vital and proven tool in tackling crime and reducing the number of deaths on our roads," he continued.
More than half of Merseyside Police's motorcycles were recently taken off the road after an officer was killed in a crash.
It is feared that a defect in the force's Honda ST1300 Pan vehicle may have been at fault and all 19 have temporarily been removed from service.
