Biaggi may yet join Kawasaki

MotoGP rider Max Biaggi has claimed he will be riding for Kawasaki next season.

Last week, the chances of the Italian rider joining the team looked at an end following the tyre manufacturer Bridgestone's refusal to supply tyres for an extra rider.

Biaggi, 34, had been left without a team after being replaced at Repsol Honda by Dani Pedrosa and then prevented by HRC from joining any other team running a RCV.

Biaggi had been hoping to announce his new ride at Kawasaki at the Bologna Motor Show last week but was forced to wait while negotiations with Bridgestone went on.

The official MotoGP website reports him as saying: "Bridgestone confirmed to me that there wouldn't be any problem about getting me some tyres."

"The team, Kawasaki, is aware of that and so is the sponsor, Camel. So basically I told them I was available, now we'll have to wait and see what happens."

Should the talks between the team and Biaggi's sponsor prove successful, he would join the Japanese outfit to ride alongside Shinya Nakano and Randy de Puniet.

Biaggi has won four 250cc championships in his long career but never a MotoGP title.
