Bikers 'should try a new slant on romance'
Couples looking to spend some quality time together this Valentine's Day are being urged to learn to ride motorcycles together.
The Motorcycle Industry Association (MCI) is suggesting that the perfect present for a loved one could be to pay for a compulsory basic training (CBT) course, or a joint course for those who have never ridden before but would like to give it a try.
MCI's Sheila Rainger said: "Chocolates make you fat and flowers give you hay fever, but a CBT certificate sets you free.
"Passing the CBT immediately entitles you to ride a small-engined motorcycle, scooter or moped and opens the door to more advanced training, bigger machines, unrivalled independence and fun," she explained.
The suggestion follows results of a survey conducted by MCI, which highlighted that given the choice of taking a bike ride with their partner or an attractive celebrity such as Kylie or Tom Cruise, twice as many bikers chose their loved one above a superstar.
Ms Rainger added that taking up motorcycling would mean that people are joining others who are reducing their travel costs and journey times.
Before embarking on the course, however, bikers might want to invest in motorcycle insurance to cover their Valentine's training.
One couple who may be set to rekindle their romance this Valentine's Day are pop star Pink and her ex-husband and motocross champ Carey Hart, as the pair are often spotted out biking together.
