Biker accepts challenger for cancer victim brother
One biker who may need to update his motorcycle insurance policy to cover overseas trips is gearing up for a cross-country ride to support his cancer-sufferer brother.
Scotsman Bobby Burns, 45, will be taking his bike across ten European countries to raise money for those with cancer, including his brother Martin, 45, the Daily Record reports.
The ride is part of the Another Way Around event, in which Bobby and eight other bikers travel through England, Scotland, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Austria, Germany, Italy and Holland in nine days.
It is Bobby's second time taking part in the event, as his brother fell victim to the cancer for a second time after a seemingly extraordinary recovery.
"There are more challenges this time. It will be more intense on the bike, but it's great to be able to do it for guys who are less able, like Martin," he commented.
Martin, who has four children and is due to be married this year, has been told by doctors that his cancer is incurable, but he says he will beat it.
"Doctors tell me there's no cure but I'm fighting it because I'm young enough and strong enough to fight it," he vows.
In related news, the Wiltshire Times recently reported that a group of female bikers from the county had raised money for cancer charity Tenovus through sales of a calendar featuring them atop their bikes.
