Bike test centre to open in Lancs
A new centre for motorcyclists to take their exam is due to open in Lancashire in the coming weeks following a year's building work.
Motorcycle insurance policyholders in the county and even further afield may be pleased to read that the centre has been developed in line with the new test and will cover tests from all over the north-west.
The Lancashire Telegraph reports that the keys to the £2 million facility were handed over from the construction team to Pendle Bracken - contractors acting on behalf of the Driving Standards Agency.
Changes brought in to the test include the need for off-road testing, with the centre replacing others that have had to close because they lack the outdoor space, such as the test centre in Preston New Road.
The new facility includes a 125x40 metre manoeuvring space for bikes and a single-storey building where tests will take place.
Speaking to the publication, contracts manager at Barnfield Construction James Webber, said: "We are delighted with the completed test facility. The building looks great and the project has been completed on time and within budget."
The new test will see bikers face two modules from April this year.
