Schumacher 'all clear' after bike fall

Novice bikers are not the only ones who may be grateful they invested in bike insurance to cover them for collisions, as retired Formula One star Michael Schumacher encountered a crash in Spain this week.

The world champion, aged 40, escaped relatively unscathed following the incident in which he was knocked unconscious after coming off his machine in Cartegena, Alicante.

Reports have emerged that the racing idol suffered two broken ribs and injuries to his neck and wrists, however, on his official website, Schumacher has said that his test results are clear.

"Today I had an accident at the biking tests in Cartagena, and to be safe I went to a hospital. I was driving down start-finish and when breaking into the first corner I hit some bumps which made me fall. The checks in the hospital showed nothing and I am fine, therefore I went back home at the evening," the post reads.

He has thanked well-wishers for their support during the aftermath of the incident.

Schumacher was crowned world champion seven times during his racing career. Recently, the German took the Race of Champions Nation's Cup at the London race.
