Car clubs invited to classic bike show

Motorcycle insurance policyholders with an interest in classic bikes might want to make their way to a show in Barrow later this year.

The North-West Evening Mail reports that the Cumbria town is set to host the Furness British Motorcycle Club's Bike Show at a new location in 2009.

Hawcoat Park Sports and Social Club will be the event's home this May, providing a larger capacity that means more clubs can be invited to attend and display. The event will take place on May 17th and proceeds are to be donated to Furness General Hospital's Child Development Centre.

The show is regularly attended by motorcycle and scooter groups, such as the Ulverston Distric Motorcycle Club and the Harley Owners' Group, but this year the event is opening up to classic car groups too.

"We want more people to come and show and we want to make this one of the best ever shows," commented chairman Paul Taylor.

Meanwhile, last weekend saw the Bath and West Showground host the Bristol Classic Motorcycle Show.
