Injured Suzuki rider risking more than an insurance claim?

Suzuki MMX rider Martin Barr may be among the many other Britons who potentially risk having to make a motorcycle insurance claim by riding their bike while injured.

The former Yamaha rider apparently tackled the opening round of the ACU British MMX Championship with an injured thumb, which hampered his performance at Little Silver in Devon recently.

Relentless Suzuki MX team manager, Rob Hooper commented that the first round had been "frustrating" as Barr and teammate Jamie Law showed potential but failed to achieve impressive results.

"Martin has been struggling to hold onto the bike after suffering injury to his thumb at the Liverpool supercross event and will get further advice on this now," he added.

Meanwhile, Mr Hooper went on to welcome new team member Scott Columb, who is standing in for injured Scott Probert. The New Zealander is currently leading the supercross championship is his native country and will stay with the British team for at least the first three rounds.

In related news, MVR-D Suzuki rider Carl Nunn took the season's first win at the championship, setting a fastest lap at the event.
