Yamaha reduces production
Motorbike insurance policyholders with a love for Yamaha bikes may be interested to read that the firm is cutting production of its motorcycles by up to a fifth in Europe this year.
Demand for the machines has fallen globally and the firm has said it will reduce output in accordance.
In Japan, the company could reduce production by up to 24 per cent, cutting output in Europe by up to 20 per cent and in the United States by up to 30 per cent.
This year will see the company's Japan sector produce just over 260,000 units, spokeswoman Satoko Ogawa has said, the Guardian reports.
Among the measures being implemented by the firm to reduce production is a ten-day period of inactivity during March, with further stoppages suggested between April and June.
Production levels will be maintained across Asia, where demand for smaller motorcycles has remained steady, the firm's spokeswoman has commented.
Earlier this year, the firm announced the UK release of its XJ6 model, which boasts "clean and contemporary lines" along with an impressive four-cylinder engine. The price for the new model starts at £4,499 without registration and road tax costs.
