Team owner Stefano Caracchi said he was thrilled to sign Rolfo, saying that his experience of four stroke engines in the MotoGP and his previous three event wins within the 250GP scene will put him in good stead for WSBK.

"We have to approach the championship with unpretentiousness and well knowing our possibilities," he said in a statement, "but I'm confident we'll be able to offer to Roby Rolfo the possibilities that his talent, in which we have full trust, deserves."

Caracchi noted that Rolfo's three event wins and 18 podiums was statistically similar to the record of Scuderia SC. He added: "Roby picked as racing symbol a smiling wolf, likewise the logo of the historic Scuderia NCR, from which Scuderia SC is the natural heir.

"We are hoping that this will means a positive and successful season for both of us."
