Motorcyclist safety to be touched on at conference
The safety of motorbike insurance policyholders on Scotland's roads could be a subject up for discussion at a forthcoming conference in Edinburgh.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) is set to attend the event on March 9th to discuss various issues with the Scottish government, Scottish group of the Institute of Road Safety Officers (IRSO) and Road Safety Scotland.
Among the themes to be discussed will be what the country's road safety priorities should be under the new framework and how these priorities should be addressed.
Kathleen Braidwood, road safety officer at RoSPA Scotland, said that she was looking forward to the event, which she hopes will build momentum for saving lives on the country's roads.
"I hope the framework is going to enable road safety professionals to proceed with confidence with the various projects they're involved in, whether they focus on rural roads, young drivers or motorcyclists," she stated.
IRSO Scottish group chairman Jane Greer commented that the framework should enable road safety professionals to focus their work on vulnerable road users.
According to the Department for Transport, vulnerable road users are classified as pedestrians, children and cyclists.
