Rare bike stolen

The importance of investing in bike insurance to cover prized bikes has been highlighted by a recent theft.

Motorbike collector Steve Doidge from Bristol has been left devastated after the 1985 Yamaha RD350 F1 he spent two years restoring was stolen from his garage, the Gazette reports.

The vehicle - one of only 675 to ever be made - was taken from Mr Doidge's home in Chipping Sodbury around the middle of March.

"It was irreplaceable," he commented, adding: "There are probably only a few hundred left in the whole of Europe so my chances of ever getting a replacement are not good."

The bike, worth £3,000, was one of eight in Mr Doidge's collection and his "pride and joy".

He warned other bikers to beware that thieves in the area are targeting rare bikes and said that he is ramping up security to avoid such an incident occurring again.

The newspaper reported that a 23-year-old man was recently arrested in connection with a theft and was on police bail.

In January, the publication stated that a number of bike thefts were taking place in neighbouring Milford Haven, with police commenting that around four incidents took place in the space of a few weeks.
