Town to host motorbike event
Bike insurance policyholders could be among the bike fans set to converge on Wells, Somerset, in June.
The market town will host its first motorbike show in a couple of months' time, with hundreds of motorcyclists expected to turn out for the event, the Norfolk Eastern Daily Press reports.
According to the publication, the show will be organised in a similar way to the annual classic bike event in Wimbotsham and takings will go to the 1st Wells Sea Scouts, which is arranging proceedings.
"Some of the people involved in running the Scout group have bikes and we all went to last year's event at Wimbotsham and thought it would be a cracking idea to stage something similar in Wells," commented event spokesman Greg Hewitt.
He went on to say that there could be up to 500 machines on display on June 21st - which may appeal to bike insurance holders looking for a spring day out.
Mr Hewitt added that if the event is successful, it may become a permanent fixture in the town calendar.
Entry cost is £1 per wheel and entrants will have their bikes grouped into various categories, such as former racers, large, medium and small British, post-war and pre-war.
