Success for new Plymouth bike show
A motorbike show in Plymouth has been hailed a great success as the public turned out in droves to enjoy the spring sunshine.
About 2,000 visitors - potentially including motorcycle insurance customers - were attracted to Royal British Legion Riders' bike event at Crownhill Fort on Saturday, the Plymouth Herald reports.
The new show - which replaced the Plymouth Motorcycle Show - saw organisers rewarded with more than enough revenue to cover costs of establishing the event, even generating some profit.
According to the publication, the event began at 11:00 BST and by 11:50 BST had raised enough to cover all costs.
"The show was a roaring success and the weather was stunning," commented Devon branch chairman Paul Pollard.
"We had 40 trade stands from all over Devon and it was a really good day," he added.
Motorcycles of all kinds were featured during the day, along with stalls and a bouncy castle for younger visitors.
Earlier this month, police in the area said they would be carrying out a campaign to enhance the safety of bike and scooter riders during the summer, with a road safety display to be shown at Plymouth Mega Ride, Plymouth Hoe, in June.
