Suzuki rider scoops third place

Suzuki racer Pete Boast achieved an impressive third place finish during the first round of the Mefo International Championship in Germany as fans - potentially including motorcycle insurance holders - looked on.

The shorttrack rider rode his 2009 RM-Z450 machine to victory in Neuenknick last weekend, despite having only had the bike for two weeks.

Commenting on the race, Boast said it was frustrating to have been so close to winning. He was beaten by Marco Belli who came first and Steve Hall who took second place.

"The new RM-Z450 has been a revelation. From the crate it made more power than my race-tuned 2008 bike and in reality we haven't had much chance to develop it yet," he added.

Boast stated that by the time the championship is underway in Britain, he expects his machine to have become "a missile of a bike", concluding that he feels more confident than ever before this season.

Earlier this year, Boast took the first victory of the season at the 58-race meeting at Stoke Speedway Stadium, with Victor Bull in second place and Tim Greig taking the third spot.
