Appeal for witnesses to bike theft
Bikers in east Hertfordshire may have had to rely on their bike insurance policies recently when their machines were stolen during an Easter attack.
The East Herts Herald reports that two distinctive bikes were taken from a garage in Waltham Cross between April 11th and 13th.
As well as making off with the bikes, thieves also stole a quantity of motorcycling accessories, including a snap-on tool box, three helmets and a set of blue and white Alpine leathers.
Two bikes were stolen - a super moto KTM 525 SX with an orange chassis, which has a six-speed gearbox and black and orange wheels; and a blue super moto Yamaha WR 450, which has Olean suspension, the numbers 777 on the chassis and bears skeleton graphics.
"The offenders would have been at the address for some considerable time, as we believe it would have taken them around 45 minutes to gain entry and to remove the property," commented police constable Michael Waters, adding that it is also believed the thieves would have made quite a bit of noise.
Officers are appealing for witnesses.
In 2000, more than 35,000 motorcycles were recorded stolen on the Police National Computer.
