BMW to launch new supersport machine

Motorcycle insurance policyholders may soon have greater choice within the superbike sector as BMW plans to release a new machine in the near future.

The new S 1000 RR has the highest power to weight ratio within the supersport class and was unveiled recently at the Italian leg of the World Superbike Championship.

According to BMW, the model sets a new benchmark in terms of innovation, riding dynamics and safety, with technical highlights including a power output of 193 bhp and optional race ABS.

The model also has four riding modes to optimise performance on regular roads, wet surfaces, race tracks with slicks and race tracks with sports tyres.

Available with finishes in mineral silver metallic, acid green metallic, thunder grey metallic and alpine white/lupine blue/magma red, prices for the machine have yet to be confirmed.

Adrian Roderick, general manager of BMW Motorrad UK, said: "Never before has a BMW motorcycle been conceived and built more consistently for supersport riding, in terms of its concept and overall construction."

Late last year, the firm unveiled its F 800 R roadster offering at the EICMA Milan Show as a distinctive, naked bike that offers enhanced handling, agility and steering precision.
