Riders urged to attend free Silverstone event
Bikers are being invited to attend an event at Silverstone that could help them avoid bike insurance claims.
June 28th will see the track become home to the BikeKraft Experience, which is organised by the Casualty Reduction and Northamptonshire Institute of Advanced Motorcyclists, the Daventry Express reports.
The event is free and 60 riders are invited to attend and find out about safe biking techniques as well as other factors such as alcohol awareness.
Casualty reduction liaison officer police constable Steve Harris commented that two motorcyclists have died on Northamptonshire's roads so far this year.
"We would urge riders to book a place on this free day at Silverstone which will help them to familiarise themselves more with their machines in a safe environment and hopefully make them better and safer riders," he added.
Since the initiative began in 2001, the scheme has seen more than 1,600 motorcyclists attend its skills workshops and receive tuition on the roads- potentially also helping reduce the number of motorcycle insurance claims made in the region.
As well as the experience days, BikeKraft also runs a three-stage rider improvement scheme at a cost.
