Worksop Bike Day a great success
A number of motorcycle insurance policyholders in Worksop may have gone home from a recent biker event with a fistful of goodies.
The Bike Day event saw enthusiasts turn out in force to show off their machines, with prizes given across 20 categories, including classic bikes and naked models, the Worksop Guardian reports.
Sponsored by Bassetlaw council, the day saw live music performed by bands San Diagos and Glen Darren and The Krew Katz, while professional motorbike racer Simon Phillips was on hand to meet and greet the crowds.
Town centre manager Russell Slater commented that the event had surpassed everyone's expectations, with the day drawing in more than 2,000 spectators in addition to exhibitors, bikers, stallholders and clubs present.
"We are delighted that it attracted a whole lot of additional interest in our increasingly popular Saturday markets and clearly shows that our plans to revitalise Worksop market are on track," he added.
In related news, it recently emerged that the motorbike testing facility in Worksop would close as a result of the new exam setup being introduced, requiring an off-road testing area.
