Bike manufacturer Yamaha has launched its latest model into the market, offering a new option for people with bike insurance.

The new Majesty 400 "turns every ride, whether a commute or pleasure trip, into a special occasion", the company claims.

It has added a number of innovative new features to the bike, including a fresh 'twin-eye' look and sleek design consisting of new headlight and rear light assemblies and integrated indicators.

Yamaha claims that this latest model offers high performance alongside quality handling, making it an ideal choice for those with bike insurance looking for a new vehicle.

"Since its launch, Majesty 400 has been one of Europe's most popular middleweight scooters and with good reason: it has always been a benchmark in practicality and performance," the company said.

It added that the updated 2009 version builds on that initial appeal to deliver a top-class package for riders.

Meanwhile bike insurance policyholders may be interested to know that the industry saw a fall in sales during May compared to the previous year, although Yamaha was the industry's top performer.

Figures from the Motorcycle Industry Association revealed 11,592 new motorcycles, mopeds and scooters were registered in May 2009, down by 16.6 per cent on May 2008.

However, the organisation said it sees good signs for the future of the industry, not least in the number of motorcycles up to 125cc sold during the period, as these are an important class for novices and first-time bike riders.
