Suzuki's top testing

World Superbike team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra completed a successful test at Phillip Island, Australia, on Saturday.

Suzuki rider Tony Corser managed, during his race simulation, to finish the test quicker than last year's race whilst achieving a lap time 0.75 seconds faster than his nearest opponent, despite high winds on the track.

Meanwhile teammate Yukio Kagayama could only complete a race simulation on the final day of testing. Strong winds had also restricted Corser to only 14 laps of the circuit on the last day.

Corser said: "I was happy with our preseason tests at Phillip Island last year and I'm even more happy this year! These four days have been very positive for all of us and we've done a lot of very useful work.

"The 2006 bike feels better then last year's bike already and although there are no major changes, a lot of things are working better and I feel very comfortable on the bike straightaway. The engine feels better (both in mid-range and top end) and, thanks to all the work we've done, the electronics are working better as well."

Kagayama added that the tests were positive: "There were no problems and no crashes, though the last day was a little dangerous because of the strong winds."
