This year's annual Bike Safe event organised by the Metropolitan Police is being promoted as offering fun for all the family.

To be held at the Metropolitan Police Training School, Hendon on June 20th and 21st, the event not only provides interesting and entertaining activities for bikers themselves, but the organisers are encouraging them to bring their families along to join in the entertainment.

Supported by the Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCIA), the highlights include a wide variety of demonstration bikes to ride from the main motorcycle manufacturers and gatherings of a number of riders' clubs.

Meanwhile, the family can enjoy entertainment such as police dog displays, police and air ambulance helicopters on display and the trade stands selling a wide variety of accessories and clothing.

Visitors, many of whom will no doubt already have bike insurance, can also take part in a number of lectures designed to give them a better understanding of road safety.

"This event is a must for motorcycling enthusiasts and promises opportunities for riders to learn about the latest developments and gain some new biking skills," said chief inspector Dave McLaren from the Met Police Traffic Unit.

Karen Cooke of the MCIA added: "It provides an invaluable opportunity for people to learn about their capabilities with the support of experts."

Many people with bike insurance are expected to head to the Goodwood Festival of Speed this July, where fans will be able to see several of the world's top riders performing on the famous circuit.
