The Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCIA) has called the changes to system for testing motorcycles and suggested a two-part system.
Flaws in the European Second Directive on Driving Licences have been outlined by MCIA to Lord Adonis, the newly appointed secretary of state for transport, including the lack of full-time multi-purpose test centres, those with bike insurance may be interested to read.
Sheila Rainger, an MCIA spokesperson, said. "Evidence shows that testing alone will not produce safer, more competent riders."
The body has backed the European Third Directive on Driving Licences (3DLD), which a training-based licensing system, which will the organisation says will improve road safety.
"We hope that the new secretary of state will
take decisive action to repair the damage that is being done to the new testing," Ms Rainger added.
The MCIA promoted road safety during national Bike Week earlier this month, by supporting a free National Bikesafe Show for the second year running, which was held at the Metropolitan Police Training School in Hendon on June 20th and 21st.
