Former World number two Tommy Haas is enjoying a good Wimbledon season after a freak bike accident hampered his chances several years ago.
Haas has made it to the semi finals where he will play Rodger Federer who has won the grass court Grand Slam several times and is the bookies' favourite to win.
Germany Haas had to withdraw from Wimbledon in 2002 after his parents, who would have needed bike insurance, were involved in the accident and needed his care.
His parents were left in a coma after the accident, which nearly claimed their lives.
Despite this setback he said: "I always felt deep down that Wimbledon has something left for me."
It has not only been the motorbike accident which has blighted Haas' Wimbledon chances; in 2001 he had to retire after getting food poisoning and in 2005 he was once again forced to bow out after slipping on a ball and injuring himself.
Haas said of his bad luck: "When I was seeded three here, my parents were involved in a really bad motorbike accident, so I skipped a year.
"Then I stepped on a ball in the warm-up when I felt I had a decent draw. But whatever happens, happens for a reason.".
