Buell launches track day special
The Buell Motorcycle Company has announced the imminent launch of a limited edition racing motorcycle designed with the track in mind.
The 2007 Buell XBRR will be unveiled in late February with the production run of 50 set to be completed in April.
The company claims that the bike is a spiritual successor to the first Buell motorcycle, the 1983 RW750, and is based on the current XB street bike.

The XBRR features a modified XB Thunderstorm 1340cc air/oil-cooled V-Twin motor rated at 150-hp and is the first production Buell since the 1988-89 RR1200 to include a full fairing.
The chassis is based on the XB design with fuel-in-the-frame and oil-in-the-swingarm, modified for racing with a billet axle adjustment system and chain-drive to allow changes to gearing ratios for different tracks.
"The XBRR combines the current culmination of Buell's leading edge chassis technology and Harley-Davidson's air-cooled V-Twin powertrain development in a platform designed by and developed for dedicated racers," said Erik Buell, chairman and chief technical officer of the company.
The XBRR's six-spoke magnesium wheels weigh 33 percent less than standard XB ones and the new bike will have an engine modification kit available allowing it to conform to a wide range of class regulations, a feature that is expected to be popular with private racers.
