A manual has been launched aimed at motorcyclists hoping to avoid bike insurance claims through better defensive riding.
The publication, from the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), was launched on July 14th at Mallory Park and is written by IAM staff examiner Jon Taylor and motorcycle titles editor Stefan Bartlett.
Set to form the backbone of training for the IAM advanced riding course and test, the book contains new graphics and images to illustrate difficult aspects of motorcycling, such as filtering.
IAM chief examiner Peter Rodger commented that the publication aims to offer guidance rather than be a book of rules.
"The advice is contemporary, topical and fully accessible to riders, whatever their level of skill and experience," he stated.
Priced at £9.99, the book also contains information on tackling difficult riding elements such as bends, and features an illustrated eight-page explanation about 'stepping stones' for urban bikers riding around town.
"Bends have always been an area of uncertainty for many riders, but the limit point for effective bend assessment is now usefully explained," Mr Rodger added.
Blind spot techniques are covered, as are positioning and revised steering methods.
Today, July 17th, concludes National Motorcycle Week, which aimed to promote the benefits of riding among bikers and those not yet familiar with the riding world.
