Motorcyclists in Kent may be less likely to have to make bike insurance claims after receiving advice on their riding from experts.

Motorbike dealership EC Bate in Dartford recently held an open day for bikers to promote safer riding.

The event coincided with National Motorcycle Week and attracted around 200 members of the public, as well as attracting representatives from Kent Police and Kent Fire and Rescue services, News Shopper reports.

Bikers who attended were given tips on improving their riding skills and also offered advice on bike insurance policies.

Additionally, those present were given the opportunity to have their machines checked for safety.

Sales manager Barry Keen told the publication that the event was a great success.

"It was very popular, we were busy all day," he said.

"There was a bit of a party atmosphere as well as safety checks for motorcycles."

National Motorcycle Week aims to promote the joys of riding, as well as the cost and environmental benefits of the pastime. It includes a Ride to Work Day in which bikers are urged to get on their machines and even take a colleague along, as well as ride-outs from dealerships and owners' clubs.
