Bike-fan Prince Harry has been enjoying the power of a Ducati as he rode pillion at a recent event at Donington Park.

The two-seater bike was being ridden by Randy Mamola, 49, from America and the bike achieved speeds of around 100mph - which those looking to protect their bike insurance premiums should probably not imitate.

Randy Mamola however is considered to be a biking legend after securing 13 grand prix victories over the course of his career.

Prince Harry was taking part in the ride before the MotoGP British Grand Prix. Reports suggest he and Mamola pulled a wheelie and then sped around the circuit twice before the ride came to an end.

Speaking about the event, a spokesperson for the Royal said the Prince had attended the event as a private day out, but had "jumped at the chance" to get on the back of the Ducati.

Meanwhile, the main event at Donington, namely the grand prix, was won by Italian Andrea Dovizioso, racing for the Repsol Honda team.

The current leader of the MotoGP series is fellow Italian Valentino Rossi, who crashed out during the Donington race.
