Bike-friendly improvements are to be made to Silverstone race track in the coming months, it has emerged.
Some £5 million is to be ploughed into track augmentations in preparation for the move of Moto GP racing from Donington to Silverstone, the Northampton Chronicle asserts.
Improvements to the Northamptonshire track, that may be of interest to bike insurance customers, are set to include new corners constructed with bikers in mind.
In addition, the changes will include the removal of bridges and walls to make the track safer for bikers.
Commenting on the funding, Silverstone's managing director Richard Phillips said it will act as an investment into the next 20 years of racing.
"We appreciate Silverstone is probably more set up for cars, but we're investing a lot of money to make sure we can serve motorbikes as well," he said.
Meanwhile, the Andrea Dovizioso secured his first Moto GP win at the British Grand Prix at Donington recently. Colin Edwards and Randy de Puniet came in second and third respectively, the BBC reports.
