Kawasaki happy with MotoGP test

The Kawasaki racing team took full advantage of the dry weather conditions at Phillip Island as they completed the third and final day of MotoGP testing at the Australian circuit.

Having set the fastest time in far wetter conditions the day before, Shinya Nakano and his crew spent the day working on the base set-up of his all-new Ninja ZX-RR, making crucial alterations to the vehicle's rear suspension so as to eradicate the chatter problems that afflicted it on the first day of racing.

Nakano also successfully worked through an intense tyre-testing schedule for Bridgestone, having been supplied with evaluation tyres with revised profiles and compounds.

Nakano commented: "The focus today has been on tyre testing with Bridgestone, and also continuing the work from Tuesday to find a good base setting on the new bike.

"I also spent a lot of time working on my riding today, trying different braking points and lines through the turns to see if I could improve on my lap time. Overall, I'm happy with what we've achieved here."

Nakano ended the day by improving on the qualification time he set in last year's Australian Grand Prix in October.

His French teammate, Randy de Puniet, also concentrated today on alleviating chatter from the rear of his Ninja ZX-RR, before on to complete a 20-lap race simulation, setting his fastest time of the test on lap 17.
