A Warwickshire park has been ruined by vandals riding motorbikes, rendering them unusable for the rest of the summer.
The Whinfield recreation ground in Rugby was cut up by tyre marks left by the vehicles, which riders would need motorbike insurance to operate, while deep cuts in the nearby grass were also found.
Bikers were thought to have been performing what are known as doughnut maneuvers.
Vandals last week used bolt-cutters to remove meshing from the games, meaning that the equipment is now too dangerous for children to use.
A Rugby Borough Council spokeswoman confirmed that until new turf arrives the facility is out of action and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
Borough councillor Heather Timms, portfolio holder for the sustainable environment, told the Coventry Telegraph: "These are despicable acts carried out by mindless vandals."
The local authority confirmed that the repairs would costs thousands of pounds.
Meanwhile, a seemingly more refined motorbike rider has added to his growing collection of two-wheeled vehicles.
