MVR-D Suzuki rider Carl Nunn has expressed disappointment after falling behind in the recent round of the MMX British Championship at Leuchars in Scotland.
The biker started the race in sixth place but dropped position after a problem with the bike's exhaust meant he had to visit the pit for a replacement to be fitted.
Nunn then struggled to make up for lost time and finished in 16th.
Despite the less than impressive finish, the rider showed his mettle in the second race, taking the runner-up spot even after his engine stalled.
He commented: "Obviously a podium visit is good, but I'm pretty disappointed. The first race was a real blow and with one round to go it feels like the championship is slipping away from me."
Team manager Mark Chamberlain said that the RM-Z450 rider will need "some luck combined with his usual huge effort" in the last round of the MMX championship.
The result could come as a blow to bike insurance policyholders with high hopes for the rider, after he took the top step of the podium at the recent event at Foxhill in Wiltshire and emerged victorious at the Fuchs-Silkolene 2-stroke British Championship and the Red Bull Pro National series at Canada Heights in Kent.
