Relentless Suzuki rider Matt Burrows achieved an impressive second place overall during the sixth round of the MXY2 British Masters Championship.
The young racer started off quickest in qualifying and led the first race before taking the runner-up spot.
Atop his RM-Z250, Burrows scooped third place in the second race and repeated his performances the following day during the event in Shropshire.
After securing second place overall, the rider maintains his championship lead of 171 points over closest rival Ryan Mclean.
Team manager Rob Hooper commented: "Big congratulations once again to our youngest team rider. Matt rode very maturely all weekend, not taking any silly risks and importantly maintaining that championship lead."
He went on to say that Burrows only needs a pair of tenth place finishes during the next round to take the championship title, adding that "this far exceeds our expectations this year".
The previous round at Foxhills in Wiltshire also saw a strong performance from Burrows, who achieved fourth place before a puncture put paid to hopes of a top result. He ended the event in eighth place.
Whitby will host the final round of the series on September 5th and 6th.
