Suzuki rider Martin Barr has achieved impressive performances in the latest legs of the MX1 and 2 classes.

The Irishman was off to a fast start on his RM-Z250, qualifying quickest and setting off in second place at the recent event at Hawkstone Park, Shropshire.

A faulty spark plug meant the racer dropped a place to finish the first race in third.

On the larger RM-Z450 bike, the rider finished in second place for the first race behind Brad Anderson, while taking the fifth spot on the smaller bike in the MX2 second race.

His last ride in the MX1 class saw Barr retire due to discomfort, ending in 12th overall and fifth in the MX2 class.

Team manager, Rob Hooper commented that the rider had experienced a difficult weekend.

"Despite the final outcome he had some great rides and showed how comfortably he can run at the front. We just need a bit more luck," he stated.

Bike insurance policyholders may be excited to read that they will soon be able to get their own RM-Z450 machine, complete with revisions to improve engine performance and steering. The bike will go on sale later this month.
