Bikers taking out insurance have been advised to ensure their policies cover them for travelling in Europe by one expert.
According to an article published on Kingpin-seo-co.uk, many riders find themselves caught out when they have an accident and discover that their bike insurance does not cover them for the area they are in.
It says that many leading bike insurance providers offer cover for European destinations and urged riders to shop around for the most economical and comprehensive deal for their needs.
"No one wants to find out on a back road in France that their cover expires once they leave central London," the firm advises.
It advocated using online search engines to compare the various pros and cons of policies and advises using the flowcharts on these sites to breakdown the information.
Meanwhile, security firm Tracker has stressed to riders the importance of having bike insurance, stating that no matter how inexpensive a vehicle it is it is still at risk of being stolen.
Riders should use a combination of security devices to deter light-fingered thieves, it added.
