With an increasing number of women choosing to ride up front on two-wheeled vehicles has resulted in a change of heart with bike insurers, it is revealed.
According to Bikesure, even on a motorbike women are less likely to have an accident and therefore are attracting lower rates than their speedy male counterparts.
"We've looked at the stats," says the firm's spokesman Robert Balls, "and there's no getting away from the fact that women make far fewer claims than men so it seems only fair to reflect that in the price of their policies."
The company estimates that 20 per cent of all bikers are now women and says that figures show they are less likely to be involved in an accident.
To reflect this, some bike insurance companies are offering women bike insurance customers policies up to 20 per cent cheaper than those they provide men with.
Meanwhile, research conducted by confused.com has revealed that motorists in general are reluctant to claim on their car insurance policies for fear of driving up costs.
A survey conducted by the website found 40 per cent of motorists would not put in for a small amount of money to protect their no claims bonuses.
