A collection of World War II vehicles, including a number of military motorcycles, helped enthusiasts recreate the liberation of occupied France last weekend, it has been reported.
According to This is Surrey, members of the Invicta Military Vehicle Preservation Society joined a convoy in the French town of Bethune for its Liberation Day celebrations.
The local newspaper claims the procession of armoured vehicles, jeeps and motorbikes stretched along three miles of road and made its way through 160 miles of French countryside.
One attendee, Tony Lawrence, who helped co-ordinate the convoy, said: "Bethune was liberated by the British 7th Armoured Division in September 1944 and 20 years ago the town's authorities decided they would start a commemoration of the event.
"Since then there have been lots of military vehicles involved and it has people from all over the country taking part."
Marking 65 years since the liberation of the medieval town from Nazi Germany by British forces, the three-day spectacle ended on Sunday with a parade before state dignitaries.
In news that may be of interest to bike insurance customers, this week's Tour of Britain cycle race is to be sponsored by motorbike manufacturer Honda and will include a fleet of ST1300 Pan European machines.
