After a weekend of serious accidents involving motorcyclists, officials in Northern Ireland are calling on bikers to share their views on road safety with researchers.
The country's Department of Environment is asking them to suggest why crashes happen and offer ideas for how they can be stopped.
Bikers' views will inform the department's new road safety strategy, which aims to cut road deaths by a third each year and reduce children's injuries by half the 2000 average.
Motorcyclists accounted for six per cent of those killed or seriously injured in the five years to 2000, but by 2007 the figure had jumped to 13 per cent, according to government figures..
Seamus Mullan, a motorcyclist and principal consultant for the research team, told the BBC that researchers were hoping to canvass opinion about behaviour, attitudes and experience.
"We need to understand the different sectors of the motorcycling population and find out if are there certain types of attitudes within one section of the motorcycling community compared to another," he said.
Elsewhere in the UK, bikers are clashing with police over alleged harassment on the road.
Last weekend saw a gathering of more than 10,000 in North Wales to protest at what they describe as "heavy-handed policing", reports Motorcycle News.
