The recent round of the British Superbike (BSB) Championship at Croft saw Honda riders Josh Brookes and Ryuichi Kiyonari achieve strong results but miss out on the top spots.

Atop his Firebalde, Brookes made use of his front row grid position at the circuit in North Yorkshire, taking the third spot in race one.

Teammate Kiyonari followed him in fourth place, potentially raising the hopes of on-looking bike insurance policyholders rooting for the team.

In the second race, Brookes continued his strong performance to the second podium of the day, finishing the race in third place again.

Following some set-up changes between the two races, Kiyonari struggled to repeat his impressive performance during the second race.

Less confidence with regards to the front end of his bike saw the rider drop places until he finally crossed the chequered flag in 18th place.

Brookes is now placed fourth overall, while Kiyonari is 11th overall.

"Overall I'm very pleased to come away with two podium finishes and move up into fifth in the championship standings," Brookes commented, while his teammate said he is pleased to be back in BSB after a lengthy break.

"It would have been nice to finish on the podium with Josh but I'm pleased with fourth for my first time back in BSB after two years," Kiyonari stated.

The results are likely to be disappointing for the rider, who won both races last time he took part in an event at the track in 2007.
